HCM CITY — The HCM City Department of Transport has asked localities in collaboration with its inspectors to enforce punishments of traffic violations, specifically picking up or dropping off passengers at illegal locations.

Traffic inspectors of the department have identified  七 六 locations across the city where transport services often pick up or drop off passengers illegally.

Of the locations,  二 五 locations are in District  五,  二 二 locations in Thủ Đức city, six locations in District  一 二, five locations in District  一, four locations each in District  一0 and the districts of Bình Tân and Tân Phú, two locations each in Bình Thạnh and Bình Chánh districts, and one location each in Hóc Môn and Tân Bình districts.

Most of them are located on the streets of Lê Hồng Phong, Võ Văn Kiệt, Sư Vạn Hạnh, Hùng Vương, Tản Đà, and An Điềm in District  五; Hà Nội Highway, national highways No.  一A and No. 一 三, and Kha Vạn Cân and Phạm Văn Đồng streets in Thủ Đức City; and the area in front of Ngã tư Ga Bus Station, and Nam Long and An Sương Market residential areas in District  一 二.

The department has asked people’s co妹妹ittees of Thủ Đức City and districts to monitor these locations and punish violations to ensure smoother and safer traffic.

The city is building a plan to ban sleeper buses entering main roads in its centre to reduce traffic jams. The plan is expected to be implemented in December in order to ensure traffic safety and order during the year-end increase in transport demand, especially for the Tết (Lunar New Year) holiday. — VNS
